Inner Horizon – it isn’t just a form – it’s a spatial experience
From the front, the piece reads almost like a horizontal shell or vessel, shifting the meaning from vertical emergence to inward retreat. The internal void becomes more pronounced, almost like a protected chamber, while the figure inside feels smaller, more intimate – nearly embryonic.
What’s especially strong here is the play between mass and emptiness. The outer volume feels soft but substantial, while the carved interior creates tension and movement. The eye is drawn into the hollow, circling the inner figure, which now appears less like it is breaking out – and more like it is being held, or even choosing to remain.
Is the form opening or closing?
Is the figure emerging or withdrawing?
